Job 12:7-10
“But ask the animals and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.”
This passage seems to illustrate how we, as humans make everything more complicated than it need be. We can’t leave well- enough alone. And many times we can’t bring ourselves to accept the simple, first solution. God created everything, including each and every one of us. When we accept this, we must accept our place as invited guest, good steward or visitor. We must be respectful.
Holy God, I know there are times I forget and I become selfish. The earth is yours, and everything in it. I am blessed by being here and knowing you. Help me to remember to make things better when I can, and do as little as possible to damage your world. Amen

12:7–10 It seems for all of time, humans have considered the earth and all in it theirs to do with as they please. In our lifetime, we have seen men try to conquer rivers and forests, forgetting that God and his creations know best. Clearcutting forests has harmed so many animals that call at home. Damming rivers have done the same to many species of fish and even the homes of people. All supposedly for the greater good. We are slowly realizing that these things in their original form were better for the earth then what man was trying to accomplish. Prayer: gracious God, may we remember the earth is yours and all in it. It is not ours …

Job 12:7-10
“But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.
Job is telling his friends they need not explain God to him. Job does not understand why he is being tested, but he never loses faith. He explains very simply to his friends about the creation God has made, by using the…
Job 12:7-10
10 In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.
When I read these verses this morning I thought of the song, “He’s got the whole world in His hands.”
It is the will of God that we are here and have been given this wonderful land to protect and nurture. As stewards of Christ, I should always do my best to do as God wants of me in regard to everything on earth. This life on earth has been given to me by God and I should nurture it in any way I can.
Dearest Lord, you have given me life and the wonderful joys of viewing your creations. I will…
Job 12:7-10 I have just returned from a conference where one of the sessions was on a controversial topic. An attendee (a lawyer) was insistent, combative and vociferous in her questioning of the speaker, prompting the doctor sitting next to me to say, “If she could just be quiet and listen she might learn something.” We have trouble enough listening to other people let alone taking the time to intentionally listen to creation itself to learn how we might be better stewards of our earth. It is worth the effort to carve out the time to be in touch with and really listen to our created world. As we learn more we will be more invested in its preservation and protection.
