1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
I love both of the passages presented today, and especially: Philippians 4:4-9, below.
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all under-
standing, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, what-ever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
Today and every day I will try to stay close to God. When I am close, I feel peace. For everything, I need God. For every time and every place I find myself, I need God.
Lord, I Love you and am more thankful than I can express. Be with me, I pray, hold me close. Amen

Speaking to God daily is such an important part of my relationship with Him. Sometimes I think I pray the same things too often or bring to Him concerns that may seem minute. I have to work on knowing that, without exception, God wants to hear from me…He wants to hear my gratitude, my praises, my concerns, and my needs.
Heavenly Father, thank you for being there for me and hearing my prayers. Thank you for knowing my heart and every concern spoken or not. Help me to speak to you everyday without reservation. Amen
Philippians 4:4-9 Always Listening
I loved the thought for the day in today's reading. "God is always eager to hear from me."
As I said in my writing back in June, we should think of our prayers as talking to a dear friend. Do it often, casually, and easy, because God is always eager to hear from you. He doesn't care what you need or want, or what you are thankful for and rejoicing about, he just wants to hear from you. He even listens to my grumblings and complaints.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 This verse picks right up from yesterday’s reminder to give thanks for our daily bread. The Upper Room author’s journey from no prayer to praying throughout the day reminded me of Bev’s breath prayers and Kay Layne’s offerings of thanks in all circumstances. Both are examples of living the lessons of Scripture and being in God’s will for us in Jesus Christ. Spiritual disciplines increase faith so that we have plenty to share with others.
Prayer - Lord, praying continuously and giving thanks in all circumstances are ways to exercise my faith muscles. Help me to be diligent and steadfast in my efforts to be in Your will in Jesus Christ, experiencing Your presence in all things and…
