Philippians 1:1-11
Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus,
To all God’s holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons:
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me. God
can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.
We talked on Tuesday about listening for God during our prayer time. I do believe that God communicates with each and every one of us if we seek him. But, in my life, God’s communication is not always clear and obvious. Recently God has reminded me that I have a purpose in life separate from worrying about my loved ones and stressing over things which are beyond my control. Imagine such a thing! God has been trying to make this clear to me, and I think it is finally sinking in. “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” God does not give us a purpose in life only to make it impossible for us to achieve it. He carries us (and the good work) on to completion.
Holy Lord, I am thankful. You hold me in your hand, and will not drop me. Amen

To Be Continued
((focus: those anxious about the future
Philippians 1:6
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
Our purpose is to align God’s plan through obedience and service from a sincere heart to him.
We are to trust in his ability not ourselves if we think we can do better by being apart from him. God has promised that as he has begun his goods works in us that he is the one who will finish and bring it to completion. As we remember this, it will encourage us when things seem to be taking a…
Philippians 1:1-11
In this reading I focused on the relationship and partnership Paul and Timothy have with the people of Philippi. It has me reflect on the transformers group and my life group at church. For these groups I am grateful. We, too, share in God’s grace. We come together to broaden our knowledge, deepen our relationship with Christ and ready ourselves as brothers and sisters in Christ for His coming.
Dear God, please help me to deepen my relationship with You, help me to focus on surrounding myself and spending time with beloved believers and help me to spend time in Your Word and share that Word as I prepare for the coming of Your Son, Jesus. Amen
Philippians 1:1-11.
I love that the author of today's devotion said, "God is actively involved in our lives." If we trust Him and truly believe this, then we know He will lead us to living for Him. We don't have to "anxiously" wait. We can "actively" wait for his guidance, knowing He is near and will be with us in all we do.
Prayer: Gracious God, thank you for this reminder to put away anxiety, knowing you are with me always. AMEN
Philippians 1:1-11
“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
This is the perfect message for entering a new year. Faith is built and sanctification approached one day, one blessing, one crisis at a time. Having confidence in the promises of God in Christ reminds us to persevere. I may not be here on the day of Christ Jesus (then again, if it is today, I will be), but knowing the work God began in me will be finished and not left incomplete is a great comfort. I am also consoled in the knowledge that this applies to those I love as well.
Prayer - Lord, waiting is…
