A Daily Devotion for Friday, February 28

Mark 13:32-33

“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.“

We do not know God’s timing for anything, really. We all have our own time on this earth, and according to scripture, the earth itself has its time. God is in control of that. I am thinking today that valuing and honoring our time in this life is directly honoring God. Time, such as it is, is His gift to us. A friend once told me she had made a blanket for a friend, by hand. She worked hard on this gift, and was pleased with how it turned out. Some time later, she visited her friend’s home and saw the blanket lining the dog’s bed, dirty and covered in hair. I must honor God’s gift to me by not wasting time, not falling into the trap of believing I have “all the time in the world”.

Holy Lord, help me to remember my time is limited, and is a gift from you. May I live my life according to your will, thankful for the opportunity. Amen

Mark 13:32-33

“But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come.

I truly need to focus on demonstrating love for God with my  whole being (heart, mind, and strength) and actively showing love and compassion towards others. Essentially, let my  actions speak louder than words by actively serving and caring for those around me , reflecting a genuine commitment to God's teachings. To remain vigilant and alert, living a life ready for Jesus' return at any moment because no one knows the day or hour, not even Jesus…

Mark 13:32-33

Everything is on God‘s timeline and no one knows what that timeline is. We must use this precious time on earth wisely, with God‘s love as our guide and light. Like the scouts… Be Prepared…be prepared and ready because He may return in the next 30 seconds or after we are dust, we simply do not know. Living a God filled life prepares us for His return..

Dear God, please light the way from me and guide me through a life filled with your love and help me spread your love each and every day in preparation for the return of Christ. Amen.

Mark 13:32-33

Every once in a while, someone will announce that they've figured out what even Jesus did not know--His return date. They are always wrong, however. The lesson here is about preparation. Learning and living a life He would approve of. Trying to calculate that return is a waste of the precious time we all have.

Prayer: Gracious God, Help me stay on the path you would want for me and use my time wisely. AMEN

Mark 13:32-33

So-called “Doomsday Cults” have long been features of misguided religion. The Millerites were the followers of the teachings of William Miller, who in 1831 first shared publicly his belief that the Jesus would return in roughly the year 1843–1844. His teachings, coming during the Second Great Awakening, were spread widely and grew in popularity, which led to a non-event being known as the “Great Disappointment.” There have been many others. For some, their end was tragic. Perhaps you recall the Heaven’s Gate tragedy in San Diego, the Branch Davidians in Utah and the People’s Temple in Guyana. Scripture is clear that not even the angels in heaven know God’s timing for redemption of creation. Deluding oneself into believing a…
