Psalm 139:1-6,13
You have searched me, LORD,
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue
you, LORD, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
With God’s perfect knowledge of each and every one of us, He is able to meet our needs in unique and perfect ways. In my professional work, I will be more effective if I first try to understand someone well. One size solutions do not fit all. One size suggestions will often fall on deaf ears and sound irrelevant or unrealistic to most. Because God knows us so perfectly and completely, he will put opportunities in our path which are perfect for us- not perfect for everyone, but perfect for you or for me. God knows each of us intimately, and so our walks with Him will differ. But God will not fail to keep us on His path if we continue to seek and listen to Him.
Holy Lord, I love how we are all so different, and only you know each one of us perfectly. Your creation is amazing and beyond the reach of my understanding. I am so thankful to you for your guidance and love. Help me to see my opportunities even when they look different from another’s. Amen

Psalm 139:13
For you created my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
God created each of us differently on purpose, and although I don’t understand why he created some people the way he did, and those same people could say the very same about me. How dull and uninteresting life would be if everyone looked and behaved exactly alike. (Just to throw a little humor into this conversation just imagine us all looking and acting like Donald Trump) This means from the womb we are to live in a relationship with our Creator. Because He knit us together He knows our temper, dreams, weaknesses,…
Psalm 139:1-6,13
I have long felt the same way about this passage as the Upper Room contributor this morning. There is a measure of comfort in being so fully and intimately known by God. On the other hand, there is also a nagging sense that I so frequently disappoint God. Lent is a time for self-reflection, re-direction and renewed commitment to being more intentional about staying on the path to sanctification. I have occasionally referred to a book I read several years ago: Ten Principles to Conquer Stubborn Habits. One of them is, “Accept the blame for your sin and God will remove the guilt.” An all-knowing God will not be mocked or fooled, but knows me well enough to…
