Isaiah 43:18-21
Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
The wild animals honor me,
the jackals and the owls,
because I provide water in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland,
to give drink to my people, my chosen,
the people I formed for myself
that they may proclaim my praise.
This is such wise counsel. “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.” God is always doing a new thing. He is willing to make us new each and every day. We all have heard the argument “rule” which advises us to avoid comments like, “You always….” or “You never….” I think the same advice applies to us when looking at our own lives. If we are following Christ, we should always be striving for (and expecting) positive change. Any positive change is possible for us when we walk with God.
Holy Lord- I am able to change for the better with you at my side. Help me to make those changes. Help me to accept what I can’t control and learn to live in the joy of knowing that you love me. Amen

Isaiah 43:18-21
This morning’s reading reminded me this is the start of Lent. I had developed a plan for Lent that was disrupted on day one by travel difficulties, having to delay getting home by a day. I am composing this reflection from the airport in Pittsburgh and am confident God will reset my Lenten plan and start a new thing that will focus my thoughts during this march to Easter.
Prayer - God of new things and new beginnings, let be begin anew in my preparation for the appearance of our risen Lord Jesus. Allow me to reset my plan for spiritual formation during Lent and get some rest when I get back home to launch it. Amen
