A Daily Devotion For Friday, February 11

Psalm 73:23-25

Yet I am always with you;

you hold me by my right hand.

You guide me with your counsel,

and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you?

And earth has nothing I desire besides you.

This psalmist describes being taken into glory as something happening at death, when he will join God in heaven. Maybe I am reading too much into this, but would these verses be written differently after Christ had been sent to save us? Did Jesus share the Holy Spirit with us as a way to share God’s glory, and allow us to share that glory with others? We share in God’s glory here during this life, when we have the Holy Spirit living in us.

Holy One, I am studying your glory through your Word. Help me to understand. Can this help me today; can one person see your glory through me, at work today? I pray I may be a positive sign, and never a negative one. Amen

Psalm 73: 23-25

This should be another scripture for memory as it gives God all the glory. It is such an affirmation of what is good, pleasing and perfect from God. Asaph was a man who was brought to this startling realization, when he began to be resentful of the lifestyle of the wicked and the riches of ungodly men - UNTIL he considered their terrifying end. He was confident in God’s presence and guidance in his life. He began to reflect on the many precious promises that were his by faith. I should do the same. The overabundance of God's blessings, both now and in the future, far outweigh the trivial rewards this world offers - for He i…

Psalm 73:23-25 24 You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.

Glory in this verse could be a current state of mind meaning that we are filled with God’s blessing. The word afterwards makes me think glory means our reward in heaven after we die. Whichever is true, the promise is there if we follow God’s counsel.

Dear Lord, your promises are there for us to receive, but it is up to us to accept them by listening to your word. Amen.

God will never leave us or forsake us. This is the gift of glory that God has given to us. Heaven is our reward and one that is treasured by all Christians. God is continually with us to guide us and bring us to eternal life.

Dearest Lord, thank you for your promise to never leave me. You sent Jesus, your son to provide for our eternal life and forgiveness. Help me to always do…

Psalm 73:23-25

Our earthly life in Christ is certainly a foretaste of the glory of eternity in the presence of God and we are given the privilege and duty to reflect that glory to those around us. Our entrance into heaven represents the culmination of our journey, and thus, the fullness of the glory we experience in God. Even our most exhilarating mountaintop moments in this life pale in comparison. While hard to imagine, Scripture tells us this is true.

Prayer - God in heaven, there are days when life seems glorious beyond description. Your glory is seen in Your creation, precious time with our beloved mates, family and friends, acts of kindness, soul-stirring art, music and writing and…
