Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
These verses have always been so reassuring to me. Whenever I get myself knotted up, worrying we may have misinterpreted or found unintended meanings in scripture, this is a verse which grounds me to Truth. We have the words of Jesus himself, documented by Matthew, a man whose livelihood had depended on his being accurate and precise! We are all invited to be disciples, and to bring others to Christ.
Holy Lord God, I thank you for giving us your Word, and for sending Jesus to bring clarity and direction to your people. Without Him, without you, we are lost. Amen

Matthew 28:18–20 Of all the words spoken by Jesus in these verses, the last line was probably the most reassuring to the disciples. He tells us as he told them, be sure of this, I am with you always. I also need to remind myself of this. Even at my lowest, I am not alone. He is with me always. I can be sure of that Prayer: gracious God, I know you’re always by my side. May I teach that fact to others. Amen

Matthew 28:18-20
Jesus said I am with you always. He gave us his power, his plan, and his presence. The requirement does not depend on who I am or what I can do, but on Jesus and what it is he can do. I don’t talk to people about Jesus because I am afraid they are going to ask something I don’t know. I do know that God did not give you and I the gospel to keep to ourselves. We talk about everything else! Sports, our jobs, our grandkids. If I were more confident I would not let this be a stumbling block. Jesus loved the world, not just some people. His death on …
Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surly I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Jesus directed his disciples directly through His Spirit, and still some of them doubted. How much more challenging is it for us to live up to his commands 2000 years later. This is the difference between faith and proof. We try to live up to His commands through the written…
Matthew 28: 18-20
In following Jesus’ commands some people will serve God in foreign countries. Some will become teachers of Christ, but most of us will be ordinary people doing our best to bring the faith we have in Jesus Christ to all by the way we live. Remembering that Jesus promised that He would be with us always. I can be a disciple in many ways just by being myself and being kind, loving and patient with all I meet.
Dearest Lord, I am your humble servant. I will do my best to bring your message to all I meet by my actions in the way I treat everyone. In Your name I pray. Amen.
Matthew 28:18-20 Like the Pharisees of Jesus’ day, the church, in all its iterations, has grossly complicated the core of Jesus’ message to the world. We were given the Great Commandment to love one another and the Great Commission to make disciples. If we in the pews would give our utmost attention to these things and insist our church leaders maintain a laser focus on them, all else would more easily fall into place. Satan would still fight tooth and nail, but a unified, Spirit-filled, Gospel grounded church would render the enemy an insignificant, incompetent worm.
Prayer - Commissioning God, may Your church move ever closer to the simplicity of love of neighbor and the making of disciples of Jesus. Let…
