Daily Prayer

September 30, 2021 A daily prayer from the New England Conference The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions. Today's Prayer Prayer based on Psalm 8 You are majestic O Lord! Your wisdom is beyond comprehension as displayed by the grandeur of the stars that you have scattered across the endless void of space, and the complexities of the particles of matter. Indeed, we are in awe of your creativity and power. You love and care for each of us and intimately know the struggles of our individual circumstances. You have given us stewardship and dominion over this world, yet we admit that our faithfulness has been found wanting as we consistently turn your great gifts into dangers that threaten to destroy us. We forget your provisions, as our misuse of the planet’s resources have created a climate crisis that is beyond our ability to repair. We forget your love, as our distrust of one another has brought about deep divisions even between those who claim to follow you. We forget your wisdom, as our limited compassion and intellect are unable to rescue us from this ongoing pandemic. We pray that you would restore in us the vision of your majesty, that we might serve you wholeheartedly with all that you have entrusted to us, and that we would do your will more faithfully. We pray this in the name of the one who humbled himself to be found as one of us. Amen. Rev. David Palmer, North Haverhill, Warren, and Woodsville United Methodist Churches; Granite District
