A daily prayer from the New England Conference

The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

Painting by Julia Collard

https://www.facebook.com/unitedmethodistchurch/posts/10156839747314455 Based on: Jeremiah 11:18-20; James 3:13 - 4:3, 7-8a; Mark 9:30-37 O Holy Spirit Divine, The disciples sought to know which one of them was greatest in your eyes, But we know that greatness is not something measured by mortal standards. Greatness is seen when compassion is shared with a small child. Greatness is felt when love stands more relevant than fear or hate. Greatness is heard in the laughter, song, and languages of all God’s people Greatness is tasted through the bread and juice that reminds us we are all servants of something greater. Greatness is the sense of knowing that by being in relationship with others, We have been witness to the Divine. We ask you this day to relieve us from the earthly conflicts and hypocrisies we cling to from the wars we wage both internally and externally Let our lives be truly submitted to your kin-dom, And our actions be driven by a peace that is true for all. Amen.
