A daily prayer from the New England Conference
Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
Scripture Reading: Luke 14: 1, 7-14
God of abundance
who is both guest and host
who invites us to come to the table,
and is invited to be present at the tables where we eat,
teach us,
hospitality
and humility
that we may partake ofÂ
the true food
and the true drink
that you serve us in Jesus.
God of compassion
who expands our guest lists,
and extends our tables,
to include those who have nothing and everything,
to bring to the feast,
show us how to eat together,
with you and with one another.
God of hungry souls
you are the source of our longing
the fount of our food.
You deepen our hunger
and satisfy us with true bread.
Sanctify the tables where we eat
by your real presence with us
through our re-membering and our communion.Â
We offer our hunger
and our thirst,
for the refreshment of our souls,
in the name of Christ Jesus,
the bread of heaven,
who lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit,
now and forever.Â
Amen.
