Psalm 91:9-16
If you say, “The LORD is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
“Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation. ”
I recently watched a few episodes of a Netflix series called, “Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons.” It was very interesting and also very sad, with some quite uplifting scenes. These were the scenes where the prisoners would gather for worship. The gatherings were Christian, led by clergy or more often by a fellow prisoner. When the prisoners sang, they seemed happy and one could imagine a sense of peace in them. Faith in God was a common thread through these awful places around the world. God is everywhere we need Him to be, and we need him to be everywhere.
Holy Lord, be with those who suffer in prison. Grant them some peace and help them to become the best that they can be. Amen

Psalm 91:9-16
Did the writer in the Upper Room really think he could hold onto that horse?? I have to admit that I often try to hold onto the rope tied my bolting worries. The Transformers talk about trust often. God, who sees all, can see our worries and I think maybe He feels we need frequent reminders.☺️ Through our readings in the Upper Room, our scripture readings, and our discussions on Tuesday nights, God sends those reminders. We need to let go of “the horse”… God‘s got the rope.
Heavenly Father, thank You for being my refuge and my safe place. Please help me to always trust You and not be controlled by my fears. In Jesus name. Amen
Psalm 91:9-16. Holding On
The theme of Psalm 91 is about God’s protection in the midst of danger. God doesn’t promise a world free from danger, but he does promise his help when we do face danger. To let go of control and trust that God will be by our side when we need him is a lesson we are learning every day. So often we hold on too long before asking for help because we are desperate. We are told again and again to ask first.
Prayer: Gracious God, help me remember your words and trust in them from the beginning. AMEN

Psalm 91:9-16
We return once again to the imperative to trust in the Lord. The situation need not be necessarily dangerous. I am trusting in the Lord to guide me through a rather hectic time. I will complete this week’s duties at Scout camp this afternoon and head right to the airport for a murder trial in Wichita. I arrive at midnight, testify in the morning and if all goes as planned, head back home at around 2. I would rather not, but in that I have to, I will trust in God’s providence to see me through.
