A Daily Devotion for Wednesday, July 29

Updated: Jul 31, 2020

Zechariah 2:1-5

verses 4b-5 “Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of men and livestock in it. And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,” declares the Lord, “and I will be its glory within.”

There is no reason to try to measure God’s “territory”. There are no walls and no boundaries. Different church buildings with different signs out front don’t define God’s workplace. It is easy for me at times to fall into an ‘us vs them’ mentality. People who go there believe this and that, but I believe the other thing. God created all of us, and all the universe. We are all different, but all a part of God’s world, God’s creation. It is too large for us to measure, and walls and buildings do not define us or define God. I need to remember I am always in God’s world- He is everywhere, all of the time.

Holy Father, thank you for reminding me again there are no walls around you. Everyone is included. I am no better than another who believes differently. Help me to be tolerant and inviting. Amen
