Thursday, August 5, 2021 A daily prayer from the New England Conference The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions. Today's Prayer Scriptural Passage: 1 Kings 19:4-8 God of the broom tree - who knows shrubs are as needed as mighty oaks, who leaves us not alone in our despair, who shades us just enough to ease the heat, Find us again today. God of hot cakes - who prepares great feasts and escorts the lowly to seats of honor, who provides every day what is needed, who is busy in the kitchen while hearing our every prayer, Feed us again today. God of water - who breaks forth from the rock to nourish us, who knows no bitterness despite our complaints, who calls justice to flow as ever-living streams, Fill our cup again today. God of the journey - who calls us to ask for the ancient paths and walk in them, who leads us not into temptation, who meets us on the road to dinner, Show us the way again today. God of Elijah - who sends servant ravens to replenish stores, who sets drenched altars blazing, who speaks in still small voices, Work wonders among us again today. Amen.
