A daily prayer from the New England Conference
The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
Inspired by John 6:35, 41-51.
God, We can't live without eating. We can't bear hunger. We fill our stomachs by taking away opportunities of the needy, We count our blessings by observing the lonely struggling, We're relieved by the fact that we are in a better situation than the sick, We are conceited because we can help minorities as majorities, We satisfy our hunger with what satisfies us. But, O God, remind us that true satisfaction comes from the bread of life that leads us to eternal life — the everlasting communion with God. May you empty the stomachs of our souls and feed us with the bread of everlasting life so we witness the surprising miracle of eternal life and become the humble channel of your sharing. Amen.
