A daily prayer from the New England Conference
Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
Lord, you tell us that when the Spirit of Truth comes, we will be guided. I breathe a sigh of relief because today it is awfully hard to know what truth might be. I once looked to our leaders to tell us the truth and that has proven to be faulty information or down right and deliberate lies. I might have believed for a time that our journalists would share the honest truth but now I know that truth is misdirected depending on a news agency’s ideology or more to the point, its funding sources. I wanted to believe that I could find the truth in the Church. Yet, that differs depending on the individual church. I would give up entirely except for your word. You have sent the Spirit of Truth to us. I can breathe again. Yes, Lord, in the breathing, I believe I can find Your Truth. Your Spirit resides within me and the Truth is here. I glorify Your name, Lord. By Rev. Dr. Jacquelyn Brannen, Katahdin District Superintendent John 16:12-15
