A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Today's Prayer
Jesus, Messiah, Child of God, Is Thomas my twin? Am I his? What is it in me that is always left longing for more — more signs, more stories, more miracles, more of you — more to touch, see, hear, and understand? In my longing, I only half-heartedly pray for the freedom you speak of — of being able to believe without seeing. And sometimes I do know this freedom. But often I do not. Is Thomas my twin? Am I his? He was absent the first times you appeared, just like I am not able to go back in time and be there in that eve-of-resurrection room. He was left longing for more information, more experience, more of you, just like I do. He was not afraid to say that he needed to see and touch you in order to believe, just like I feel. Is Thomas my twin? Am I his? You came back for Thomas, Jesus. You came back to Thomas, Messiah. You came back and met him where he was in his faith, Child of God. If I am like him, please come back again. Come back again through the locked doors and the lingering doubts of today. Come back again because he was not the only Thomas. I believe. Help my unbelief! Amen and Amen. By Rev. Jill Colley Robinson, Green Mountain District Superintendent Inspired by John 20.19-31 and Mark 9.24b
