John 14:15-27
“If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”
Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
“All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be
troubled and do not be afraid.
Words of comfort from Jesus never come at the wrong time, do they? When we need to hear them, we can always find them. It is like we talked about the other night. The peace from God, from Jesus Christ, has already been given to us. We need only remember, be thankful, and walk into that peace. (Like a nice hot shower without the wet 😁) Always ready for us, always willing to comfort.
Holy Lord, I am so very thankful. Your protection of my soul is clear to me, even though there is so much I do not understand. Without you, who knows where or what I would be? I love you, Lord, and am so thoroughly thankful. Amen

John 14:15-27
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. ...

John 14:15-27
“The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”
Jesus introduces the Holy Spirit to His discipes, but includes a curious detail, the implications of which seem to be a call to action. Despite years of claiming faith, it took more years to finally come to know the Holy Spirit. Learning how complicated this is lends a sense of urgency to continue to carry on Jesus’ mission. “The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him.” It falls on us, the community of faith to make the Spirit known to a world in desparate need of…
John 14:15-27
In Jesus’ words, “Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid”… in all my imperfection I often find this assurance so very difficult to embrace, I can, at times, consume myself with worry and sadness about things I clearly have no control of. I often preach to my kids to let go of what they can’t control but carry the dirty little secret that I struggle with letting go myself. I wish I could be better. I will say that when I am troubled, my first strategy is always to go to prayer. Prayer always settles me and comforts me. The Upper Room thought for the day rings so clear…”No matter how big …
