Daily Prayer

February 26, 2022 A daily prayer from the New England Conference The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions. Today's Prayer Luke 9:28-43a Transfiguration Hymn meter 99.99 Silence the clamor of sounds that swell Muting the subtle voice that would tell Of Love's message to those perishing Who seek, in Christ, God's hope unveiling. Envelope us in the cloud of light That in Thy presence we may delight Thy Word to hear in greater fullness More to fill life's vales with thy goodness. While on the mountain Thy light did burn Within our hearts, which to know Thee yearn, And retain that light burning within When we travel through life's constant din. Descend with us Thy Spirit to share, For we would in faithful service dare To shine abroad the Gospel story That sheds on darkened hearts Christ's glory. God of knowing, clear our senses that we may perceive your presence and message for our lives in this moment of time. Envelop us in a cloud that silences the clamor of worldly voices that we may be filled with your voice. Dim the harsh lights of this world that we may behold the light of heaven. Then, envelop us in your loving embrace that we may be “astounded at the greatness of our God.” Amen. Rev. Greg Smith, Shelburne United Methodist Church, Green Mountain District Committee on Ordained Ministry
