A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

Lord, we have been through some tough times, lately. We have seen tornados, floods, fires, and pestilence. So many are sick and so many have died. A new year has begun and we long for an Epiphany. Where is wisdom to be found? "Do not be afraid, I am with you I have called you each by name Come and follow Me I will bring you home I love you and you are mine."** Lord, we look at our nation and can't help but see that our brothers and sisters of color are not given the same rights and privileges that others are afforded. How can it be that the color of our skin condemns some and uplifts others? "Do not be afraid, I am with you I have called you each by name Come and follow Me I will bring you home I love you and you are mine."** Lord, we are longing for peace, but we fight over our politics, our religious practices, who is in and who is out, and even how to keep one another safe in this pandemic. How can be find peace? How can be finally find freedom? "Do not be afraid, I am with you I have called you each by name Come and follow Me I will bring you home I love you and you are mine."** Lord, thank you for claiming us as yours. Thank you for claiming all of us as yours! We will follow you with all of our hearts and all of our imperfections. We love you and trust that in you, each area of imperfection, will be made new. Today, that is our Epiphany prayer. By Rev. Dr. Jacquelyn Brannen, Katahdin District Superintendent Isaiah 43:1-7 ** Lyrics: "You are Mine" David Haas
