A daily prayer from the New England Conference
Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
Eternal God, as we awake to a new creation, so full of possibilities, we recognize that you have created this day so abundant with your blessings. In this season of advent help us to prepare anew for the coming of your holy one. Remind us that you first sought us through you Son, the Christ. Walk with us, transform our minds, and let us rejoice in the light of your word made flesh.
Help us to slow down and take account of the important moments which have shaped our days, and may we be inspired by new visions of love and peace. As we do so, may we gain a sense of our responsibilities as we co-create with you in this life. Give us courage and help us realize that we cannot live indifferently from those who suffer. Give us the vision to shape a new world where self-interest is tempered and corrected by the power of your eternal love. We thank you for the many blessings which have come to us in every imaginable way. We entrust ourselves to you for you have shown us faithfulness and mercy. Give us power even in our weakness to overcome. Enable us to embrace the present with insight, enthusiasm, and purpose. Empower us to look to the future with confidence and hope, and may we know your advent peace. For it is in the Spirit of the Christ that we offer this prayer.
