Today's Prayer
Scriptural Passage: Luke 1:39-45 God of Light, we give thanks for your birth in Jesus, Word made flesh, love made flesh hope made flesh living among us. Help us to see you here, the Christ born of Mary, the Christ born within us, the Christ dwelling in our kin, the Christ dwelling in our foes, here with us in plain view. Bring to birth through us the promise you conceived. Give us grace and courage, though we be afraid, to trust the angel’s message to say, “Here am I. Let it be with me according to your Word.” (Luke 1:38) We light the fourth Advent candle praying for peace to come into our world to abide in our hearts, to flourish in the dark, and to dispel all fear. Inspire us by your Spirit to exchange gifts of love, to mend the broken hearts that ache for hope and grace, to shed light in dark places and to trust that your word will not return empty, but will be accomplish the purpose for which you sent it.
