Daily Prayer

October 29, 2021

A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

“When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus come out!" The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him and let him go." — John 11:43-44 Weeping Jesus, Call us out! Call us out of the tombs that keep us dead to your life within us. Call us out of the old heaven that keeps your home from moving into every neighborhood. Call us out of the old earth that keeps us blind to all things that God is making new and good. Weeping Jesus, Command us to unbind. Command us to unbind and let go of all that you have already freed within us. Command us to unbind and welcome all whom you have already redeemed and liberated to be your beloved. Empower all your unbound and liberated people to see and taste the New Heaven and New Earth. Welcome all your children into the deep and abiding joy of your Home, which is in every heart and in every neighborhood as it is in heaven. Amen.

Inspired by John 11:32-22, Revelation 21:1-6a By Rev. We Hyun Chang, Commonwealth East District Superintendent
