Daily Prayer

October 28, 2021

A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

O God, we confess that we are like Mary, disappointed that Jesus was delayed while our loved one languished in illness. We are like Martha, stating simple truths, overwhelmed with our grief. We are like the crowd, doubting motivations. We are like Lazarus, paralyzed by things beyond our control. We are like Jesus, overcome with emotion at the loss of loved ones. We have forgotten your promise of eternal life. Help us to trust in your goodness. Unbind us from sin. Help us to believe and see your glory. As we prepare for All Saint's Day, we remember our family and friends whom we loved, the ones we've wept over. We take comfort knowing that they have joined the great cloud of witnesses. Give us strength in our grieving. We know you hear our prayers. Amen.

John 11:32-44 By Rev. Megan Stowe, Commonwealth District Superintendent
