Mark 14:32-33
They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled.
Today we see the fully human Jesus struggling with his feelings. If I ever wonder about Jesus’ ability to feel emotions or to experience fear or pain, these passages in the garden would be good ones to revisit. Jesus knew what was coming, and knew he would be reunited with the Father, but still experienced utter anguish.
Lord God, I have a lot to learn, and many questions popping up as I contemplate Jesus’ final journey on earth. Help me, I pray, to deepen my understanding. Give me wisdom, that I might grow in faith. Amen

Mark 14:32-33
These moments in Jesus’ life are so profoundly sad. In the face of an unimaginable fate, Jesus stayed the course and fulfilled his destiny knowing his suffering would change humanity forever, but oh how frightened he must have been. It is impossible to fathom. It makes me question if I am even worthy of this salvation, but I know in my heart that God believes I am worthy despite my sins.
There is nothing, absolutely nothing, more humbling than this.
Dear Lord, I thank you, and I praise you for the unbelievable gift of salvation. Help me to always keep this crystal clear in my heart and in my mind. Amen
Mark 14:32-33
How difficult it must be when you come to the end of a. plan, but you are not ready. You are not done. There is much left to do. The Father's plan for Jesus involved suffering. No wonder he asked for a reprieve--YET he always then said "But your will be done, not mine." We are witnessing the truly human Jesus this week and can certainly understand his fear. The road ahead is unimaginable!
Prayer: Gracious God, while I understand these verses, what lesson do you want me to learn from them? AMEN

Mark 14:32-33
And they went to a place called Gethsemane. And he said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” And he took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed and troubled.
Jesus was grieved to the point it felt like He would die because of His deep sorrow. He had offered himself as the Messiah to His chosen people and they were about to reject Him and murder him, the very son of God. How did he response to these feelings, He fell to the ground , he cried out to the Father in prayer. .Jesus’ prayers were not complicated. (He prayed …
Mark 14:32-33
Jesus endured indescribable mental anguish as He pleaded with the Father regarding what lay ahead. I cannot help but wonder if part of His sorrow was the knowledge that His inner circle, the trio of Peter, James and John still did not yet grasp the cosmic implications of the events that would unfold. Knowing the sense of disappointment, sorrow (and yes, anger) I feel when I hear direct, unambiguous rejections of Jesus puts into vague perspective the immensity of His heartbreak in Gesthemane. The human Jesus must have surely wondered if His cruel death would impact a world so beset by sin. I cannot fathom His suffering even as a beneficiary of it two millennia later.
