A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis
During these difficult days, members of the clergy class of 2020 are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
Divine one,
the summer breeze is finally here, caressing the beautiful and perfect creation that you placed on Mother Earth as we feel your presence of unceasing love in this snug sunlight. Along with the pale green leaves and shiny bright sky, beautifully flowered field, and cheerful stream of water, we praise you with our whole being.
Our parent God, Help us open up our minds and spirits and start deep listening, as we stand at the end of this trying season, the sorrows of people who lost their loved ones, the systematic racial challenges that became clearer, and the hopes yet you allowed us to cherish. Empower us to be prophetically inquisitive, and to ask the right questions, the dangerous questions, the creative questions. Bring us under your wings, a sacred place with wonder and awe, where your sovereign power covers us and enlightens us, where your unconditional love bathes us and enables us, where you call us, and where we answer you. Let us be your agents, your examples, your church. Transform us, and let us transform the world. We pray all these in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
