A Daily Devotion for Wednesday, November 17

Isaiah 41:10

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

These verses follow our discussion last night so nicely. We have been looking at scriptural references to “faith”, and today we see where faith leads us through the words of Isaiah. When I am struggling, it can be difficult for me to stop and talk to God. But I can say truthfully, when I do stop and ask God for help, I get it. God gives me strength.

Holy Father, you are there for me any time, every time. You give me strength. Forgive me, Lord, when I forget to ask for help. I need you. Amen

Isaiah 41:10

God strengthens us but we need those around us to encourage us. Barbara and I are the opposite of Tom and Becky in that I exercise physically on my own but watching Barbara’s reliance on God’s help has inspired me. He is in my head more than ever because of Barbara and because of all of you.

Dear Lord I know you are there for me and always have been. Thank you. Amen.

Isaiah 41:10

talks about God encouraging and reassuring us not to be afraid of whatever situations we find ourselves in, but trust in Him, and He will give us the strength we need. It is a promise God has given, because He is more than enough. All God wants from us is to have trust in Him and take Him by His word. As humans, we are daily faced with frightening situations which brings about fear, God’s promises to deliver us from whatever is staring us in the face, be it worries, anxieties, troubles, or distress, His right hand will uphold and strengthen us. Sometimes, fear takes over and this must be acknowledged. When this occurs, it simply means a…

Isaiah 41: 10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

This verse tells me that God is encouraging and reassuring me not to be afraid of any situation I might find myself in, but to trust in Him and he will give me the strength to get through it. It is a promise that God has given to me. All God really wants from me is too trust in Him and His words. God is faithful and will be with me in my time of need. He has given me His word.

Isaiah 41:10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. From Exodus to Psalms to the Prophets, through to Hebrews, we are reminded that it is through our faith in God that we will have the strength required to live through difficult times. I also love this passage’s reminder to do not be afraid. That message has been delivered many times to those who need it the most – you and I, Mary and the shepherds and many others. Prayer: gracious God thank you for today’s reminder of the strength you offer us through our faith in you.…

Isaiah 41:10

I have often heard faith compared to muscle, needing exercise to gain strength. My discipline for exercise is as bad as it gets. Becky never misses, but me - not so much. I am better at it when I join Becky. Isaiah reminds us that God is our partner in strengthening our faith. We are spiritually helpless without God, but confident and strong with God upholding us with a righteous right hand.

Prayer - God of strength, I need your power behind my faith life or it will shrivel like unexercised muscle. Help me feel the power of Your righteous right hand as I engage a world that is not always welcoming to faith. Amen
