Matthew 6:9-13
This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’“
Matthew 6:34
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Reading these passages from Matthew, words attributed directly to Jesus, I realize that “mindfulness” is a biblical concept! Wouldn’t all of our therapists and counselors be surprised to learn that Jesus taught mindfulness 2000 years ago?! It is remarkably difficult for me to master the art of mindfulness. Being grounded in the here and now somehow has always seemed selfish and short-sighted to me. How can I sit in the present when there are so many problems for me to figure out? Jesus encourages us to be thankful for what we have right now. There will always be problems to figure out. Nothing is perfect, but we need to remember to be thankful, nonetheless.
Holy Lord, help me to realize and be thankful for all of the blessings you have put in my path. I have more than enough. I am grateful. Amen

Today’s. Reading Matthew 6:9-13
Matthew 6:34
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
The Lord knows we face many circumstances and situations that can cause anxiety in this fallen world. So if we give our attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help us deal with whatever comes up when the time comes-Whenever I find myself feeling anxious or worrying about tomorrow, I can take my concerns to the Lord in breath prayer, because I…
Matthew 6:9-13, 34
Funny how the Lord’s Prayer does not seem right in anything other than the language of the KJV. That aside, I found this morning’s Upper Room contribution more inspiring than if it had a Hallmark movie happy ending. A calming walk, focusing on the glories of the natural
world and a few moments of peace does not pay the bills, assure continued employment or guarantee good health, but it does feed and nurture the soul. This is the way I feel when I have an opportunity to spend time in Randolph. It is in the surroundings of the beautiful White Mountains that I can let tomorrow worry about itself.
Prayer - God of all Creation, thank You…
