Isaiah 43:14-21
This is what the LORD says—
your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
“For your sake I will send to Babylon
and bring down as fugitives all the Babylonians,
in the ships in which they took pride.
I am the LORD, your Holy One,
Israel’s Creator, your King. ”
This is what the LORD says—
he who made a way through the sea,
a path through the mighty waters,
who drew out the chariots and horses,
the army and reinforcements together,
and they lay there, never to rise again,
extinguished, snuffed out like a wick:
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
The wild animals honor me,
the jackals and the owls,
because I provide water in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland,
to give drink to my people, my chosen,
the people I formed for myself
that they may proclaim my praise.”
I have always loved the verses we are looking at today, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” God’s promise to be with us through everything is so important to me. I am given permission to move on from what did not work out, or from past mistakes and sins, and God will be in my present and my future, showing me a new way. We have a God who is merciful and fills us with hope!
Thank you, Father, for these words today, which come just at a perfect time for me! I love you, Lord! Amen

Isaiah 43:14-21
The thought of the day in The Upper Room, “I will look for good things God is preparing for me today” had me thinking about all the times I moved and changed jobs or moved onto another position or department with my work during my active duty years and then as a Navy wife. There was new work, new people who knew nothing about me, different ways of doing things and working hard to prove myself. Like the Babylonians, so many times I felt displaced and discouraged and wishing I could go back to where I came from. I like to think of myself as an optimist and, even though sometimes it was very difficult, I do belie…
Isaiah 43:13-21
Don't look back. Keep moving forward and Trust in the future. There it is TRUST. God clearly says do not dwell in the past. Why do we find that so difficult? Usually it is because the past was difficult, sad, or not our finest hour. We keep going back hoping to change it but we cannot. God wants us to look forward for the new things-the green shoots after a forest fire. He never asks us to forget, because these things are often learning oportunities, but he wants us to trust him that new and wonderful things are in your future not your rearview mirror.
Prayer: Gracious God, Although I do look back, I am much better a…

Today’s Reading …..Isaiah 43:14-21
Isaiah 43:18-19
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
It can be easy to look back. Sometimes we hold onto past mistakes, past hurts, or even past seasons that felt more comfortable than where we are now. But God gently reminds us that He is doing something new. He is not finished with us yet. Even when I cannot see it , He is working. He is bringing healing, growth,…
Isaiah 43:14-21
I don’t believe I am one to dwell on the past. I have had plenty of failures, but far many more blessings. It seems God is frequently doing a new thing with me. Even in this season of life new challenges have been presented and new opportunities to serve are made known. With all this going on there is little time and absolutely no purpose in reliving past mistakes and failures.
Prayer - Lord, if You will a new thing for me, soften my heart to receive my task with grace, an open mind and a willing heart. Amen
