1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.
This passage Is powerful for me. There is no question to whom I belong, and to whom I give thanks for my very existence. My physical self is what God gave me, and He expects me to take care of it. This will not look the same for everyone, as we alone know what our bodies are capable of. But taking care of ourselves is a way to say “thank-you” to God for this most incredible gift.
Holy Father, you have given me life, a body in which to live it, and have promised eternal life beyond the bounds of the physical. I am so thankful, and will try to continue to honor this incredible gift from you. Amen

1Corinthians 6:19–20 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body. When a sentence begins with “don’t you realize” I hear a scolding type of voice. I also always thought that the Holy Spirit was with me and close to me but not in me. Although I have always taken care of myself – better sometimes than others, this verse is scolding me for not realizing how important my body is to God because the Holy Spirit resides in me. Not near me. Not wit…

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
This was very humbling for me and not the kind of stewardship as I understood it to be. In the world we live in today most people would think this is my body and no one has the right to tell me how to use it. Thoughts being we will use it as we please. While we are obsessed with physical beauty and sexy bodies, many believers ignore their bodies as if they…

This is a different form of stewardship than I would normally think of it. God is in us and we must be good stewards of the vessel. That means more to me than just what is discussed in this chapter. To me it includes how we treat our bodies through exercise and eating.
Dear Lord, if being a good steward of my body includes exercise and eating, then I have not done so well. I could use…
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 I wonder if Paul would be surprised at the strong reaction he would get in our country today to his assertion, “You are not your own; You we’re bought at a price.” In this age of hyperindividualism the ethos is one of I can do anything I want with my body and it is no one’s business but mine. The human body faces enough challenges from nature. Since the Fall of humankind in Genesis we are destined once to die, but poor stewardship of our body is an insult to its creator.
Prayer - Creator God, I confess I do not always consider or treat my body as a temple of Your Holy Spirit. Keep me mindful…

Stewardship does not always relate to tithing. Biblical stewardship means being a caretaker of God’s kingdom. God created the Earth, and we are to take care of it. Being a good steward in this life means taking care of all that God created. I am God’s worker, and I should take on this responsibility with all my heart. Being a good steward is a way for me to express my love for God and my gratitude to Him.
Dearest Lord, thank you for giving me the Holy Spirit…
