Romans 8:26

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

I think there is another reference in OT scripture to God hearing our inward groaning, even when we do not know the words to pray. This is such a comforting and important concept. We need never worry that we “didn’t say it right”, or that we left something or someone out that we have been worrying about all day. God hears us, and when we can’t speak, the Holy Spirit already knows what needs to be said. This verse also reminds me how important it is to train our minds to be silent at times, to be able to listen for God. What a blessing it is to have the Holy Spirit with us 24/7.

Holy Lord, I am so thankful. Please hear my prayers, especially those I have been unable to utter out loud. Amen

Romans 8:26

Prayer for me had not always come easily. I’m better now but still lean on my Bible and devotional publications. I keep a prayer journal that helps as well. The personal prayers I say daily usually follow an “algorithm” of sorts. All of these tools “sent” to me are so very helpful in my daily prayer routine. The Holy Spirit provides all of this for me to help me stay focused when I am having trouble getting out my prayers.

Dear Lord, thank you for always being there to listen to my voice, my mind and my heart. Amen

Romans 8:26-30. The Words to Pray

We have had many wonderful discussions about prayer in our Tuesday Transformer Zoom meetings. We all know what today's Upper Room Author didn't know. Prayer need not be a difficult as some people make it. Prayer can be as simple as a conversation with God as if you were speaking with a friend. No kneeling, folded hands, or special words are necessary. Although these are all good things. We've also learned that no words are even necessary. Our needs might just be in our hearts and minds, but He is listening and he hears us.

The words to pray

(Focus: those who taught me pray

Romans 8:26

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Romans 8:26 speaks about the Holy Spirit's on behave of believers who don't know how to pray. It explains that the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We need to ask the Spirit's help in expressing our needs  and desires to God, even when we lack the words. We talked about, this last night in group session and all agreed to be pacific when we pray, understanding that as humans,…

Romans 8:26 Prayer seems simple on the surface, yet remains intimidating to some. When I came to the understanding prayer is a conversation and not a recitation it became easier for me to pray “outside the lines” and let my requests, petitions, intercessions, frustrations and confessions be made known to God in my words. Even then, Paul assures us that when the words don’t come, the Holy Spirit intercedes.

Prayer - Omniscient and everlasting God, I have offered You my prayers this morning as best as I know how. I thank You for the Holy Spirit who “fills in the gaps” when my words fall short. Amen
