Matthew 11:27-30
“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Luke 2:14
“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
The concept of Jesus and his yoke have never really stuck with me. Today I see that Jesus is inviting us to partnership with him. A yoke joins two oxen to work together. Jesus has never promised that we will be free of burdens and hardship in this life. But he does promise help, if we agree to walk with him and trust him. What a precious gift we have in Jesus; an unbelievable, undeniable miracle!!!
Holy Lord, Father of all creation, thank you for the gift of your son, Jesus. This year may I fully appreciate your love and sacrifice, and do my best to shine your love and light on those around me. Thank you for my family and my friends who support my faith in you, and for those who do not yet know you, but can see your work in and through me. I love you! Amen

Matthew 11:27-30. Luke 2:14. Christmas Eve
We do tend to overbook ourselves during this season. I always hope that if I work hard enough before Christmas Day, I will be able to enjoy the day more. Unfortunately it doesn't always work out that way. The verses from Matthew remind me of an anthem I've sung. The words of verses 29-30 speak of turning our burdens over to God so you may find rest. My yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light. It is really my own fault for not heeding his words to slow down and rest my soul.
Prayer: Gracious God, the pressure we feel during this season is human made. We mu…
Matthew 11:27-30
The thought of the day in The Upper Room is, “When I am weak, the Lord is strong.” Oxen in a yoke, an image of strength, they carry the heavy load effortlessly. This is what the Lord does for me. He carries my load when it is too heavy for me. He never rests and is always there.
Dear God, thank You for Your presence in my life. Thank You for carrying my burden, for carrying my sin. I humbly ask You to help me walk with You and walk a life that glorifies You. Amen

Luke 2:14
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
When Jesus was born, a host of Heavenly angels praised God by saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” The first gift is that of love—God’s love.
Christmas is the celebration of God making a promise He had made hundreds of years earlier that a child would be born who would be both God and man. God fulfilled that promise when Jesus was born. God made a promise and kept it. Love keeps promises. It was God’s idea to come to earth…
Matthew 11:27-30/Luke 2:14
We tend to look back at the year past as we face the year to come. There may have been trials and hardships, that come to the forefront of our thoughts, but if we take the time to dig deeper we can find blessings that made the load just a little bit lighter. In these God moments in time we realize we are among whom God’s favor rests and are given a measure of peace. Our trial may not be over, but our yoke is shared and we gain the undeniable sense we are going to make it through. May it be so for
all of us in 2026.
