Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
As I was contemplating this verse, the one just before it caught my eye: “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.” We should be generous, as God is so generous with us. All of these things which we freely receive from God, we should be willing to freely give. (Cue the Freely, Freely intro, Roz!) Regrettably, I too often look to others, whether it be for an apology, an explanation, their attention, priority, time, etc., etc. What I should be doing, is giving these things; looking for ways to share my time, attention and affection. This would be giving back to God. God will take care of my feelings.
Holy Lord, you alone are in charge of my soul. You give me all that I need. Amen

Luke 6:38
The opening verse of the Matthew reading “Stop collecting treasures for your own benefit on earth, where moth and rust eat them…” made me think about when my brother and I were cleaning out my mother’s house after she passed away. I struggled with letting go of many of her personal items. Even when items were selected to come back home with me, I couldn’t help but wonder where her things would end up after the auction and what happened to the things that didn’t make it to the auction. It wasn’t the value as much as it was the memory. Overtime, I realized that only the memory was important. Those memories were the only true treasures i…

Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
This verse reminds me of the golden rule. (Matthew 7:12)“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". While I can never outgive what God has given me, one lesson I am learning is to be generous. Just like the middle of the ice cube tray, when I have enough, I should share with others. This could mean offering help to someone in need, donating to a worthy cause, or simply offering…
Luke 6:38 Generosity should be a mark of being a Christian. My most vivid earthly model of generosity was my father. Andy never made a great deal of money and sacrificed much, not only for his children, but for others on the margins. He never got, nor sought accolades or fanfare, but his generosity made big differences in lives other may have considered insignificant. Certainly there are scores of generous people who are not followers of Jesus, but the Christian is generous in order to show thanks to their savior for His sacrifice on our behalf. Generosity without Christ can certainly make one feel good, but Christian generosity also pleases the Creator of the universe and there is never any ledger…
Luke 6:38
Today's author said what I have often said to people. Just look around you. Keep your eyes and ears open to the needs of others. There is no shortage of people who could use help and it is often as simple as a smile, conversation and understanding. This is something anyone can give away. Sharing our time and talents is the best work we can do for Him.
Prayer; Gracious God, I thank you for all you have given me. May I continue to share then Freely, Freely. (Thank you Becky). AMEN
