1 Samuel:27-28
“I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I ask of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.” And he worshiped the Lord there.
For me, this is another example of God’s willingness to watch over each and every one of us, and to take on the responsibility of our futures. It is difficult to imagine giving up a child to a life apart from us. But in a way, this can be a metaphor for all of the times we need to let go of our children to allow God to be in charge of their lives. Even with adult children, it can be difficult to let go. There are many things we as parents cannot control for our children, no matter their age. But we can always pray for them.
Holy Lord, watch over my children, I pray. Help them to feel your presence and your positive influence in their lives. Help them to accept and believe. Amen

I can so easily remember the anguish of wanting a child and being disappointed again and again. As we know, God often works in mysterious ways. I gave up! I started helping someone with their child and lo and behold my dream finally happened. My three girls are successful adults now, but I still worry and pray for them and their families. Each girl's journey as been very different (as are each of them), but they have always had a positive attitude and always look ahead not behind.

1 Samuel:27-28 The maternal-child bond is a sacred and mystical relationship that is like no other. There are innumerable moments throughout life when a mother must yield to the changing maturity and needs of her child, but the praying mother, like Hannah, never ceases to petition the Lord to watch over, guide and protect the life she brought into the world. These moments and these prayers mirror Hannah’s action of turning Samuel over to the Lord. All mothers who know the Lord do this bit by bit all of their maternal lives.
Prayer - Gracious God, bring blessings and peace to all mothers praying for their children. Strengthen them when their maternal road becomes difficult and help them find joy…
