Jeremiah 10:23
Lord, I know that people's lives are not their own; it is not for them to direct their steps.
This verse is found in a book which deals with pagan idolatry, the perils of following the crowd, and the absolute power and sovereignty of our God. But the bottom line for me today is this- no matter what foolishness happens in the world, God is still in control. If I follow God, I have the best chance of fully living the life he has in mind for me. I can make any number of foolish choices, but this will not change God's will for me.
Holy Lord, you have a plan for me, and I will try to listen and watch for it. Pieces fall into place, and I know that they are good. I surrender; I know you are good. Amen

Jeremiah 10:23
With these words in this prayer, we see Jeremiah’s understanding of the need to have God in our lives. Not just to have him but to rely on him as we journey through life. I’m not sure I do this consistently. As we read last week in James, we need to stop planning and stop relying on ourselves. We need to stop and pray and seek God’s help. I need to work on that.
Prayer: Gracious God, Give me the wisdom to seek your help with all my plans right from the beginning. Amen

Jeremiah 10:23
I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.
People even at their very best do not have the ability to run our own lives. God alone knows what’s best for us, and we should always live a life that is pleasing to him. We need God’s wisdom, his guidance, and love to lead us in the right path. When we surrender it's giving ourself to something or someone else. It's allowing us to be filled with something other than own own worries and emotions.
I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in himself,…
Jeremiah 10:23
I’ve heard the statement that I am in control of my own life. I say really ? You must have misunderstood what is going on, you control your schedule where you go what you do? I think this is a statement of total misunderstanding…… you are not in control. What about the disruption when things go wrong what do you hear? Oh God! You lost something what do you say where is it God! There’s an accident, Please God, someone’s ill please help heal them God!
With God all things are possible and he will direct thy paths.
Dear God, Thank you for all your blessings knowing you are my God not an idol not doing it on…
Jeremiah 10:23
The delusion of the people in Jeremiah’s time is no different from the delusion of today. Unwilling to acknowledge we are created beings answerable to and directed by our Creator, so many assume they are the ultimate master of their destiny. Our free will, a gift from God, may make this seem true, but it is in a limited sense. Jeremiah’s message was largely rejected and this was a source of much grief for him, yet he pressed on. So too must we Christians of today. If we project the joy that results from submission to God’s claim on us, many will reject our message, but there may also be a chance that others will see the futility…
