A Daily Devotion for Tuesday, August 4

Updated: Aug 6, 2020

Hebrews 5:12-14

Verse 14: But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

Today I am reminded of all of the choices we have each day- what to read, what to listen to, what to watch, what to “Google”. The world is ready and willing to fill me with whatever they are selling. It is important to be informed about the world, but there is a point at which I know I am not being filled with God’s love, but the world’s agenda. God’s nourishing love and teaching is available to me 24/7. Like an athlete who needs to make good nutritional choices, I need to do the same.

Heavenly Father, thank you for your readiness to nurture and feed me. You are always here for me. I am never alone or without choices. Help me, God, to turn away from the world and find something different to take in, when that is my best choice. Amen
