Psalm 94:18-19
When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.
My friend just left yesterday on a flight to Hawaii with nearly her entire family. I knew they were leaving very early in the morning, and when I opened my phone to see the headlines warning of a tsunami, my heart was not feeling peaceful. I knew they would not fly a plane directly into this kind of a potential disaster, but I also knew there would be a high anxiety level at that airport. Thankfully, the forecast and warnings had changed even before I saw the news at 6am. God heard my prayers, but at the time I prayed for her, the danger was already past. He heard my prayers and brought me peace, and brought peace for my friend. The message in Psalm 94 is a message I go to nearly every day: when I call out to you, Lord, you hear me, and you give me courage.
Holy God, you calm me and fortify me, just because I ask. What greater love is there? I am thankful. Amen

BUT, we must be careful not to expect a chronically ill person to have the ability to rise above something so constant in their life.
Prayer: Gracious God, help me to not let my bad days bring those around me down, but for me to try to rise above it…
Psalm 94:18-19
I am generally not a constitutionally anxious person, but I can definitely sense that as my faith has grown I am even less anxious about things beyond my control. The Lord’s consolation does not eliminate difficult circumstances, but helps me get through them. The world, despite its many blessings, holds just as many disappointments, problems and concerns. I try to keep in mind that when my foot is slipping, whether it be age diminishing my body, people acting in ways that are contrary to God’s will or feeling oppressed by work, the Lord supports me - and that is enough.
Prayer - Lord, please grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to…

From sadness to joy
(Focus: those experiencing physician pain
Psalm 94:18-19
When I thought, “My foot slips,” your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up. When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.
These verses encourage us to turn to God, who offers support and peace amidst life's challenges. Like the lady in the upper room this morning, when we worry, we are focussing on our problems, causing us to talk about them 24/7. The more we think about them the larger they become. I have heard many people say, I just can’t help it I am a worrier. The truth is people often worry because they do not know how to…
