Acts 2:1-4
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
Because of his abundant love and grace, we receive many gifts from God. When we accept Christ as our savior, we receive the Holy Spirit, and it never leaves us. I need to intentionally lean into this reality, because if I don’t listen, I could miss the soft voice of God. Reading these verses today prompted me to look something up which I have never understood, and this is my overwhelming “before and after”. I learned that in the OT, the Holy Spirit was sent to dwell in someone temporarily, for a particular purpose. With salvation in Christ, the Holy Spirit becomes a permanent part of us, and never leaves. What an incredible blessing!
Holy Lord, your blessings come each and every day, without my deserving or even asking. I am so thankful. Help me to keep my eyes and my ears open for you. Amen

MOVED BY THE SPIRIT
(Focus: to be open to learn new things
Today’s reading Acts 2:1-4
Acts 2:4
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
After Jesus had ascended to heaven, the Holy Spirit arrived as promised. With the sound of wind and the appearance of flaming tongues. The disciples are filled by the Spirit and speak languages they did not know beforehand. At that time people from every country were residing in Jerusalem. They were beside themselves with amazement . This was a way of God showing his miraculous power. We should all pray to be completely filled with the Holy…
Acts 2:1-4
Wind is a frequent metaphor for the Holy Spirit in Scripture. At Pentecost it came with obvious and unmistakeable power. More often though, the Spirit is like another biblical illustration that represents the wind of the Spirit as invisible and we as unable to predict from which direction it is coming. We should not be passive and wait for the Spirit to carry us, but set our sails to catch the full force of His power in our lives. I will pray for the wind of the Spirit before taking the stand this morning in Reno and would appreciate your prayers as well.
Prayer - Spirit of God, please empower me to do your will in all tasks…
