A Daily Devotion for Monday, May13

Galatians 6:9

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

This is something that I have to remind myself of quite often. We don’t know what the outcome will be when we do the right thing. Sometimes it seems to backfire. (“I was only trying to help, and it all went wrong!”) We sometimes don’t know why God put us in a situation, but we know that doing the right thing is always the right thing. God will bring things to fruition when it is time. We may never see it. Maybe our “good” started a chain reaction of faith and hope and love! God will do what needs to be done, even if we do not see the harvest.

Holy Lord, It is always the right time to do good. We may not see the harvest, but we can know we are doing the right thing. Help me to see opportunities to do good, and to avoid overthinking. Amen

Galatians 6:9

This scripture spoke to me earlier this morning and I’ve been struggling over it all day, I have a cousin that I babysat. Galatians 6:9

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Many times I am disappointed with my repeated failures and because of this sometimes  I feel like giving up. Only at this time I am reminded of the holy spirit that lives within. No matter how long it takes me to mature, God doesn’t  give up on me. The Holy Spirit continually works within me and helps me to grow spiritually. Yesterday during our church service our first hymn was “Oh Jesus, I had promised” while my back is to the congregation tears filled my eyes as I sang and took in…

Galatians 6:9

This verse reminds me of evangelism. Seeds planted may yield fruit years or even decades later. I have heard many stories of people with whom the gospel was shared only to have them reject it at the time. Later in life, however, at God’s “proper time,” the Holy Spirit entered their heart. The person who did the good may have never known or had even passed away before the fruit of their effort was harvested. What was far more important than knowing was that they never became weary in doing the good of sharing their faith.

Prayer - Lord of all, grant us a measure of Your patience in doing good. Let us be content in the knowledge…
