Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I think Peter knew we would all stumble from time to time, literally and figuratively. But if we work on our relationship with Christ and listen for God's voice, we cannot go wrong in the most important sense. Our calling is to follow Jesus. While following Jesus the rest becomes clearer. But even now, at my age, I am still looking for and praying for ways to live out a more specific calling.
Holy One, you live in me, and I am so thankful. Lead me, Lord. Amen

2 Peter 1-10-11
 Peter is reminding us to keep on doing gods work, as it will prove to others that we have been chosen by God to spread the good news. It is reassuring to know that thousands of years ago, Peter understood that people needed these words. Do not be discouraged. Keep on keeping on! We need this reminder as much today as back then.
