I Corinthians 13:4-5
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
So, if I am concentrating and focusing on loving my neighbor, I am also remembering to be patient and kind, and not easily angered. Showing love to another does not include looking for things to be critical about, or ways to build ourselves up. If we are certain of God's love for us, maybe we can be more generous with our love for others.
Holy Lord, help me to always see the good in others, and not to keep a record of wrongs. Your love for me is a perfect example which I can strive to match. Amen

I Corinthians 13:4-5 The “love chapter” of 1 Corinthians is so commonly associated with marriage ceremonies that we sometimes forget it is a message to and for the church - for us as the body of Christ. Anger stunts the growth of love and is the bitter fruit of all we are told to avoid in this passage - envy, conceit and pride. Learning to harness and redirect anger represent steps on the journey of sanctification.
Prayer - Loving God, take away from me all envy, conceit and pride. Without this kindling, the fires of anger will not ignite. Amen
