A Daily Devotion for Monday, December 6

Psalm 119: 29-32

Keep me from deceitful ways;

be gracious to me through your law. I have chosen the way of truth;

I have set my heart on your laws. I hold fast to your statutes, O Lord;

do not let me be put to shame. I run in the path of your commands,

for you have set my heart free.

“Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” I need to remember to ask for God’s help more often. He has made it clear to me what is right, and what is wrong. But there are times I feel so justified in being angry or irritated. These are times for me to turn my heart to hear the Holy Spirit and how it leads me. Deliver me from evil. Keep me from deceitful ways. Lord, hear my prayer. Amen

Psalm 119:23–32 Keep me from lying to myself. Give me the privilege of knowing your instructions. I have chosen to be faithful. I have determined to live by your regulations. I cling to your laws. Lord, don’t let me be put to shame. I will pursue your commands, for you expand my understanding. We have the privilege of knowing God‘s instructions. We only have to open our Bibles. Everything we need is there. If we faithfully open and read our Bibles, we find it offers so much love and understanding, that we should be able to meet life’s challenges. The Psalmist is reminding us to do just that. Prayer gracious God thank you always for this gift of reassurance that you are wi…

Psalm 119: 29-32

The laws of humans are confining and often oppressive. Today, lawmakers irresponsibly pass laws they have never read. Thousands of pages, loaded with loopholes and gifts to special interests, these monstrosities are made law and the public is a left with the restrictive consequences, being made lawbreakers for simply living their lives the same harmless way before the new law is passed. The Pharisees fell into the same trap, adding hundreds of restrictions and requirements to the Commandments, as if anyone could always obey the original ten. Their laws and the blizzard of statutes out of Congress only produce more “sin.” Compare this to God’s law as condensed by Jesus - Love God, love your neighbor as…

Psalm 119: 29-32 Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me and teach me your law. I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws. I hold fast to your statutes, Lord; do not let me be put to shame. I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding.

This poem is a celebration of God’s Law. The words tell me that God sends me the grace and blessings to protect me from sin. These words of God’s will last forever providing His guidance through my life. God gives me the understanding to know what is expected of me and the grace to uphold these truths.

Dearest Lord,…

Psalm 119:29-32

These verses remind me of how often I forget them all together. In order to live my life that will reflect God’s way, and avoid any deceitful ways, I must be willing to know God’s word. It’s really this simple. Beverly can say, give me understanding, a teachable heart a willingness to learn and always ask the holy spiritual for guidance. Studying God’s word is my choice and only I can make it. God’s word not only provides me with the rules and guidance but he comes with me personally everyday to support me . Because I have made this choice my attitude will change as God becomes more important to me than anything else. Lord, th…
