Zechariah 9:9-10

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!

Shout, Daughter Jerusalem!

See, your king comes to you,

righteous and victorious,

lowly and riding on a donkey,

on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

I will take away the chariots from Ephraim

and the warhorses from Jerusalem,

and the battle bow will be broken.

He will proclaim peace to the nations.

His rule will extend from sea to sea

and from the River to the ends of the earth.

Reading this, it is clear why the Jewish people expected something different, and were not quickly convinced that Jesus was the Messiah. For us, looking back over time, we can see the truth in this scripture, “His rule will extend from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.” No other leader or ruler ever (before or after) had the influence and power of Christ. People have not always followed Christ as they should, and until we all do this, there will not be peace.

Holy Lord, help me to live out your peace on earth. Show me the way to do your will and to make a difference. I believe. Amen

Zechariah 9:9-10

More than 500 years before it actually happened, Zechariah describes Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. I find it amazing that God spoke so clearly to Zechariah. He could not have known the meaning of God's words to him, but he recorded/spoke them for all to hear.

Verse 10 speaks to the second coming. In the Message version, we are told "no more war, Peace, and peaceful rule, worldwide from the four winds to the seven seas." I've never given much thought to his second coming, but this sounds pretty good!

Prayer: Gracious God, Your prophets have shown the truth about Jesus so I must believe in the peace of Jesus' second coming. AMEM

Zechariah 9:9-10

Becky’s post reminds me of the chant heard at so many radical left-wing demonstrations - “No justice, no peace.” If they only realized the better chant is, “Know Jesus, know peace.” Zechariah’s visionI is yet another of the OT prophecies fulfilled in Jesus of Nazareth. It Is good to reflect on these things at Advent as they emphasize the incredible confluence of history that culminates on that Bethlehem night and for 32-33 years hence. Immanuel, God with us. It is true. Let us rejoice and find true peace in this.

Prayer - Thank You, Lord, for the gift of Jesus, His life, work, death and resurrection that we who believe may have eternal life. Show us and share…

Reading about the excitement of the arrival of Savior, the one to bring peace, is quite something to think about. He filled the people with hope and the fact that he will come again fills me with hope.

Heavenly father, thank you for the hope and the excitement of Jesus‘s return. Amen

Zechariah 9:9-10Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall speak peace to the nations; his rule shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.

Jesus came to us righteous with salvation, humble and riding on a donkey as he follows the will of his father. He came to teach us that truly…
