John 8:31–32
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Jesus makes it simple for me; Hold to His teaching. That is all I need to do to be a disciple. But holding to God’s word is not always that easy, and not always simple. Life has gotten so complicated and so full of details. Do I let myself get caught up in details and forget what is most crucial? Do I put too much importance on unimportant things? When I let this happen, I am not being a disciple.
Holy Lord, keep my path straight and help me to stay focused on what you would have me see and do. I am yours. Amen

John 8:31-32
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Being in God’s word, is a process for me, that takes time. Each new day gives me the opportunity to start all over again. God knows the progress I am making In agreeing with all that God saids to me in his word and to recognize all the lies of Satan. God’s word is truth and these words will be effective for me as I receive them in my heart and apply them to my everyday circumstance . I a…
John 8:31–32 I have never thought of myself as a disciple. Certainly not in the true sense of these verses. I do my best each day, but I know I often get off track. I used to think it was much easier for those people two thousand years ago. They didn’t have the distractions we have today. Of course, this was just an excuse on my part. They did have distractions, just different ones from mine today. So my job is to remain faithful to Jesus’ teachings as best I can. Prayer: gracious God, help me with my faithfulness. Light my way when I falter. Amen
John 8: 31-32 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
I don’t know what Jesus meant when he said that the truth will set the Jews free, but it could be that they would be free of all the laws that did nothing to make them more loving people. Holding to Jesus’ teaching sets me free of deciding what is right or wrong. It shows me a path that is clear to follow. I repeat my pray from last week.
Dear Lord, thank you for your word so that we may know how to…
John 8: 31-32 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
I may not be a disciple in the way those in Jesus’ time were, but I feel that I am a disciple none the less. If I believe in Jesus, I will be eternally saved. I also have a responsibility to grow and mature in my faith, deepening my knowledge and understanding of Christ. This, I feel, is done as the Transformers meet each week and share the meaning of the word in their understanding. In this way we share our discipleship with each…
John 8:31–32
This post-Christian culture is the mirror image of Pilate facing Jesus. Even with the Truth staring him in the face, Pilate utters his immortal nonsense, “What is truth?” In an age when the “truth“ is what any individual perceives it to be, the people are in bondage. In its “deconstruction” of the concept of truth, postmodernism has erected a high-walled prison that only the Truth of Jesus’ teaching can destroy. Are we willing to be a part of the demolition team?
Prayer - God of truth, grant me the fortitude to stand for Your truth in the daily trials of life and in doing so point those in my sphere of influence to a life of discipleship. Amen
