Exodus 4:10-17
Moses said to the LORD, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.”
The LORD said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the LORD? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”
But Moses said, “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.”
Then the LORD’s anger burned against Moses and he said, “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and he will be glad to see you. You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him. But take this staff in your hand so you can perform the signs with it.”
I have to admit that this passage has always seemed odd to me. It would have seemed more in line with God’s nature to tell Moses to “suck it up” and do what was being asked of him, as God never gives us a job we are unable to handle, right? But for some reason God relents, and offers a solution allowing Moses to avoid speaking publicly. I wonder why? After all, it was Moses’ later act of disobedience that kept him from entering the promised land with the Israelites. I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this?
Lord God, it is difficult to understand why in this case you allowed Moses to refuse to do what you had asked. Later when he disobeyed, there were serious consequences. I know that for me today, the lesson is to do your will, as closely as I can discern what that is, and to listen for the Holy Spirit to correct me. You will not lead me off the correct path. Amen

Exodus 4:10-17
I think we all need a nudge from time to time from the Holy Spirit. This passage reminds me of a time when our DCE approached me about teaching mid high Sunday school, keeping in mind that this particular group of kids had quite a reputation of being a difficult lot and they had been through several Sunday school teachers, one who actually walked out in the middle of class. I prayed about it and thought about it and wondered if I could handle or was even capable of taking on this challenge.… Then came “the nudge” and I dove in. It turns out this was the beginning of a great relationship with a great group of kids…

Exodus 4:16
He shall speak for you to the people, and he shall be your mouth, and you shall be as God to him.
The term "Good Samaritan" is still used today to describe someone who responds to a calling to help those in need, not for recognition or reward, but out of genuine love and compassion—even when it's inconvenient or goes unnoticed. God called to Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. But because of his speech he told God he could not do it, so. God sent him a partner, his brother Aaron. He will speak for you to the people, telling them w hat…
Exodus 4:10-17 God’s plan is not likely to be thwarted. by any shortcomings of the people God sets into motion and mission unless they out and out refuse. The “supporting cast” to get the job done will be identified and deployed to get the job done. Moses has the excuses, but God has the answers. So it is today. I have doubts about what I am about to try to do today, but will trust God to help me carry it out.
Prayer - Lord, You know both my fears and my weakness with regard to today’s goal. I turn these over to You and trust that I will be led safely by You to the next place of rest. Amen
