2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Faith is believing what God says and what he promises. Then, what exactly is hope? When I think of it this way, I realize hope follows faith. Without faith in God, what can we hope for? Hope is the belief/knowledge that things will be better in the future. This leads to peace.
Father God, sometimes I get all tangled up in words. Your love and promises let me know better things are to come. But I am so thankful for yesterday and today! Amen

18. So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. This verse from Paul was to give hope to the people of the church at Corinth. Paul certainly understood suffering. He endured much in his quest to establish churches with Jesus message everywhere he went. He knew and preached hope so that no matter what we face here on earth, there is something so much better. Hope, like faith, cannot be seen, only felt in our hearts. Prayer; gracious God help me strengthen my faith and hope in you. Amen
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
The apostle Paul did say "do not lose heart" even as his physical body was wasting away under the effects of persecution. He say this with certainly because he knew that his inward person was being renewed day in and day out by the leading of the Holy Spirit. In the current state of our world, the chaos that is going on, I only have control over my inner peace and thoughts. Peace does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It is difficult for me to be in the midst of these things and still be calm in my heart.” Inner Peace begins the moment I…
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Leave it to Paul to call the eventful journey that is life, “light and momentary struggles.” Compared to eternity, however, it seems accurate. This passage is certainly one of hope, but raises the question in my mind that I had last week. As this body is gradually wasting away, what will our eternal bodies be like?Only God knows and on this I will base my hope.
Prayer - Eternal God, life may consist of light and momentary struggles, but when Your love breaks through, the darkness is illuminated by the incredible joys of creation, family, good friends and the countless blessings we are provided daily. These joys fuel our hope in the brightness that lies ahead when…
2 Corinthians 4: 16-18
16 Therefore do not lose heart. Through outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
Paul suffered greatly for the sake of the gospel. If we compare his suffering to the challenges we face they do not compare in comparison. However, when we are suffering that is all we can think about. If I reflect on these life challenges, I can see that they are preparing me for eternity. I have to work hard in this life, nothing is a free ride. Knowing that through hope in the promise of Jesus, I will have eternal life, it helps make the burdens lighter.
Dearest Lord, giving me hope through the Holy…
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
I feel like these verses were written about me because they do capture what happens as I age. Although I don’t feel like I am wasting away, I certainly am not physically what I was a few years ago. I do think I am inwardly stronger than I was due in large part because of Pastor Gil and his guidance toward bible and small group activity. I am more focused on what is unseen rather than what is seen.
Dear Lord I can’t do much about the aging process but with your help I can continue…
