Isaiah 41:9-13
I took you from the ends of the earth,
from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, ‘You are my servant’;
I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
“All who rage against you
will surely be ashamed and disgraced;
those who oppose you
will be as nothing and perish.
Though you search for your enemies,
you will not find them.
Those who wage war against you
will be as nothing at all.
For I am the LORD your God
who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”
Some of this passage from Isaiah is difficult for me to apply to my life today. I don’t feel that I have enemies around every corner, or that I have foes who need to be vanquished. But there is always Satan, scheming. I try to ignore him but be watchful. The last sentence in the passage is especially helpful to me this morning, though.
“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” I can always lean to God, put out my hand, and know He is there for me. What a beautiful blessing that is!
Holy Lord, you are always with me, and with those I love. Draw those seeking you even closer, I pray. Amen

Isaiah 41:9-13
41:13. I am the Lord your God, who grasps your strong hand, who says to you, don't fear, I will help you.
This passage reminds me of the Oct. 30 reading. Today's passage seems to work in the opposite direction. In Oct. I said I hoped I would remember to grab His hand when needed. Today's passage reminds we don't have to remember to reach for Him--He reminds us he will grasp my hand. Remember, I will help you. I should not forget that.
Prayer: Gracious God, I know it doesn't matter who reaches first--just that we will! AMEN
Isaiah 41:9-13
The prophet was emphatic in his assurance to the Hebrew people that despite their many enemies, God had chosen them and would protect them. The incarnation of Jesus opened the door for the rest of humanity to entry in the family of God. All who cross that threshold are now also given the assurance in the promise, “I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” I know God has helped and continues to help me in countless ways small and great. I also have a sense of what my life could have been like without God and it is an ugly picture…
