John 16:33
”I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
This verse tells me everything I need. Jesus brings us peace. Knowing Jesus has overcome this world gives us the strength to endure hardship, and strength to fight the forces of evil we experience. Jesus wanted us to be strong. He taught his disciples so they could bring others to Him. The world pulls us away from God, but He is still with us, giving us strength to pull away from the world.
Father God, I am so thankful for the strength you provide. I need to use it more frequently, daily and minute by minute. Help me, Lord. Amen

I always take extra time to enjoy the beautiful pictures that go with each days devotion. I always see God's beauty in each one. We don't stop to take in all the beauty that surrounds us as we get "too busy" with daily living. We need to stop, take a breath and remember God is there to be strong for us when at times we cannot be strong for ourselves.
John 16:33 There isn’t a human being alive who isn’t acquainted with troubles. And when times of difficulty come they often remain indefinitely. No wonder Jesus’s promise in John 16:33 remain in the minds and hearts-of all believers. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. This comforting verse is Jesus’s final words of reassurance, and encouragement to his disciples in the upper room before his betrayal, arrest, and crucifixion. Jesus was about to face the most excruciating separation from His God and Father – an agonizing loss which is beyond the comprehension of us human beings. But take heart! I have overcome the world Such simple words from Jesus but the grace …
John 16: 33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Jesus is telling me that I should build up my courage and be encouraged by his words. Jesus’ words are meant to strengthen my spirit and forge ahead in this life.
Dearest Lord, thank you for your words. They give me the strength to get through all of life’s challenges, knowing that you have died for my sins. Your suffering gives me the hope and strength to face all of the hardships I face in this life. Your death gave me eternal life. In your name I pr…
John 16:33 Jesus is speaking very plainly to the disciples. Because he will overcome the world, so will we. It may not be easy; the world often brings great sorrow and trials to overcome. But our belief will bring us strength that we can find that peace that Jesus offers. Prayer, Gracious God, to know that there is great peace in Jesus, gives us the strength to face the world we live in. Amen
John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Jesus has spent 3 years teaching his disciples and in this final lesson He spoke in plain language, not parables. He wanted them to have peace, just as He wants that for us, but he also said they, and we, would have troubles. His teaching gives us strength to face these troubles and to find peace.
Dear Lord thank you for the strength to face troubles, whatever they may be. Amen.
