Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
I have been thinking about the psalms a lot lately in terms of the very sentiment expressed in 46:1. Think of how many people over the ages have turned to the Psalms for this very reminder. At how many kitchen tables, tents, huts, shacks, and dirt floors have people sat and called out to God? It is not these words which comfort, it is that they lead us to God. They remind us to call out to Him. It is the calling out to Him we must remember, and the trust we have that He will respond. And He has responded to these calls for help since before the Psalms were written. Why would they have been written otherwise? That is proof enough for me.
Holy Lord, your Word is precious to me, because it leads me to you. I am so thankful. Amen

11-God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.
The phrase that caught my attention was ...an ever present help ...He is with us always. Although the writer stresses turning to God when life is all storm and turmoil. I believe if we remember he is always there, he will not just hear our pleas but our thanks for our joys as well. I used to worry that God would get tired of listening to all my fears. I realized I wanted him to know how much I appreciated him during the calm times of life as well.

Psalms 46:1
As I read these verses, I can’t help but think of the troubled world we’re in today. In my prayers, I regularly call out to God for a more peaceful world. I have faith that in God‘s time these conflicts will come to an end, the weapons of war will be laid down and peace will prevail. I have had my own personal troubles and as I call out to God, I know that those conflicts ,too, will come to an end in God’s time. I just pray that, as I am compelled to call out to God when I’m troubled, or frightened, others will be compelled to do the same.
Dear God, I thank you for being…

Peace in the storm
(Focus) someone who has given me guidance
Psalm 45:1
God is our refuge and strength an even-present help in trouble.
Like a mother or father who hugs and comforts an afraid and upset child, God surrounds us and protects us in our difficulties. This verse does not say that God will remove us from the difficulty rather God will protect us and we should glorify him even in the midst of the difficulty. As I depend on his protection during the difficulties of my life, my journey will be to never forget the goodness and power of God. No matter what happens, trust Him. Even if things don’t seem to turn out…
