Colossians 3:12-14
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
I am thinking this morning about politics. Nothing specific, just politics in general. I have been wondering more and more if acceptance might be just what is missing. We all learned at a young age that we can’t always have our own way. (‘Win some, lose some.’) Sometimes decisions are made for an entire group which are not particularly favorable for us (or me) as an individual. But if we learn acceptance, and know all is in God’s hands, we can move on. We can’t stop loving, or forgiving or being kind just because we did not get our own way. Acceptance is part of life, and when we can do it with grace and compassion, we are mirroring God’s love.
Lord God, help me to accept the things I cannot change. Help me to do this with grace and love for all of your people. Amen
Becky, transforming
