Verses 12- 14: ...to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.
In the past, whenever I heard the expression “mature Christian”, I would wonder when or if I would ever become one! I knew then and I know now it has nothing to do with age. For me it has to do with confidence, in one’s very soul. Confidence in God and his plan for us. God wants us to be together, to grow together, and to continually build up one another in our faith. We all need to grow past being infants into adulthood in our faith. Those who are strong and mature in their faith have a role to play with less “mature” believers. Some teach, some are pastors, some are leaders in an administrative capacity in the church. Some of us are “professional students”, working toward feeling ready to graduate!
Father God, help me to learn and grow. I want to be a mature Christian. Amen
